The anticipation for the return of this franchise's latest chapter is scaring up all kinds of fan theories! The one thing audiences of the upcoming Scream 7 are guaranteed is the jump scares and thrills that have turned this classic into one of the genre’s most beloved films, with its original screenwriter, Kevin Williamson, assuming the director’s chair. Filling visionary filmmaker Wes Craven’s shoes is no small feat, but if anyone is up to the task, Williamson is a student of the master, setting the storyline back on track with his leading lady, Neve Campbell, facing a new Ghostface killer with ties to her past.

Though the last two films, beginning with 2022’s requel starring Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, took a magnificent turn at retooling the mythology for a new generation of characters, at the core, Scream is the story of Campbell’s final girl, Sidney Prescott. “I was really excited to be a part of the film again, and to continue Sidney’s journey,” Campbell reveals. It’s no secret that she expressed some issues returning to the series that made her a household name, but with Williamson calling the shots, and her legacy co-star Courtney Cox also returning in the role of journalist Gale Weathers, Campbell jumped back into the scare tactics of this fan-favorite.

In the latest installment, it appears that Sidney can’t seem to get a break. She’s made a life for herself, away from Woodsboro, with a husband and a family, but with just one phone call, all of is suddenly tossed to the wind. A new killer has assumed the modus operandi of the Ghostface killer, the series of masked maniacs that have terrorized Sidney for 30 years. This time, there’s more at stake! Ghostface doesn’t just want to torment Sidney; Ghostface wants to take down her daughter, Tatum, played by franchise newcomer Isabel May (of Yellowstone prequel 1833 fame). Exactly who is behind the mask in Scream 7 is anyone’s guess, but all will be revealed very soon in theaters only on February, 26.

Once again, Sidney Prescott must confront her greatest fears. Check out the poster art (below) with nods to the original franchise release. Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson forever altered the horror-film genre with the release of Scream 30 years ago. Tickets for Scream 7 go on sale Monday, February 9, and is a Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media release.
