First Look | The New BATWOMAN

She’s ready for her close up! Javicia Leslie steps out of the shadows and into the spotlight giving fans a “First Look” at the actress in her screen test shot as Gotham City’s caped wonder in the upcoming Second Season of BATWOMAN.

Introducing Gotham City’s latest cowled crusader! Actress Javicia Leslie makes a stunning debut in her screen test for the upcoming new season of Batwoman where she will be stepping out in the lead role of Ryan Wilder. Taking great measures to keep its cast and crew safe during the pandemic, the production is full steam ahead as everyone returned to the set in Vancouver for the surprise reveal. Leslie is stepping and into and under the cowl after Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane goes missing!

Series showrunner and show creator Caroline Dries revealed the strategy for the upcoming season during the cast’s appearance at the DC Fandome Experience and how Ryan Wilder will play into the coming Season 2 conspiracy. Kate Kane has gone AWOL and now suddenly her cousin Bruce Wayne has returned, but everything isn’t what it appears to be! Dries promises that as Ryan finds her footing, the one-time drug runner who has made it a career dodging the GCPD, her Batwoman on the side of the angels, even as the city declines into decadence.

The inaugural year of Batwoman proved a hit for The CW, and its star Ruby Rose easily emerged as a headliner to keep our eye on. Even as Arrow rounded out its final season, Rose would join the larger pantheon of heroes that are a part of The CW primetime line-up and played a significant role in the season’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover. With the COVID-19 pandemic having affected production schedules, the series has just gone back into production on a closed set, with new episodes of Batwoman set to premiere in 2021.

Here is your “first look” at its new star, Javicia Leslie, as Ryan Wilder in the Batwoman cape and cowl:

BATWOMAN Season 2 is set to premiere early in 2021. The Complete First Season is available now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital.
