First Look | The New BATWOMAN

It’s official! The CW releases its “first look” at Javicia Leslie as the “new” BATWOMAN and she looks fabulous and ready to take on the world!

Gotham's caped crusader has finally been revealed! Everyone has been curious to see how Javicia Leslie will be stepping out as Gotham’s new wing-woman when she suits up as the lead on the highly anticipated second season of Batwoman. The wait is over! With the series back in production taken every measure to keep its cast healthy and safe during the global pandemic, The CW has readily shared its “First Look” at its newest star taking on the worst the streets have to offer in the new Bat-suit!

Series showrunnner Caroline Dries has been very quick to stress that the opening arc of the new season will focus on Leslie’s Ryan Wilder on her journey assuming this very important mantle of Gotham City’s defender. “It’s not long before she realizes the power of its symbol,” said Dries, “what it can do for everyone else in Gotham City.” The outfit was altered to perfection by the “Arrowverse” team of costume designers headed by Maya Mani, who gave Wilder’s Batsuit more red detailing, shorter boots, and a new wig created by Janice Workman.

DC Comics fans were also treated to an additional surprise this month, when the character of Ryan Wilder made her first appearance in the comic book canon in Batgirl #50, the giant-sized final issue of that title’s run (at least for now), firmly establishing Wilder inside the DC Comics Universe, although the character’s fate will be much more further explored when she makes her debut in Batwoman.

With The CW primetime line-up pushed to premiere early in 2021, fans have been eager for any new bits from the sets of their favorite shows and looking forward to the seasons coming up. Along with Batwoman we can confirm The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl (launching her final season, which was recently announced) are in full swing.
