<Scooby-Doo is as American as apple pie! The K-9 and his companion have solved crimes and foiled schemes for decades, a mainstay of the Saturday Morning Cartoon era, and have even been adapted to the big screen. Since the 1969 debut of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, produced by Hanna-Barbera, many iterations of their animated mystery adventures have followed, and Mystery, Inc. are still considered the original ghost hunters.
In 2010, the entire gang returned in a more contemporary, serialized format. That animated run is now available from the Warner Archive Collection on Blu-ray, and it’s only out there for a limited time. Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated The Complete Series isn’t a reboot or an origin story, but reinvents the classic cartoon escapes and places our heroes in their hometown of Crystal Cove, where all manner of creepy antics seem to be commonplace, and no one is particularly keen on how Scooby-Doo and his gang interfere in solving many of these cases.
The town can’t shake its macabre reputation as “the most haunted place on Earth,” and if it weren’t for those meddling kids, perhaps it wouldn’t be drawing all kinds of weird characters. That won’t stop the gang from getting into the thick of things, revisiting some of their most popular and iconic cases along the way, while trying to solve an even bigger mystery that might be their biggest caper yet. This new series marries the “monster-of-the-week” format with a serialized story arc that marries the seasons brilliantly, and it feels just like the classic adventures.
The 6-disc Blu-ray includes all 52 episodes from the two seasons of the series and features Audio Commentary on certain episodes as well as the original Season 1 & 2 trailers. It’s a nostalgic trip down memory lane that gets a little saucy and sassy, with a wink-and-a-nod to the show’s long legacy and a fanbase that spans generations. Pick up Scooby-Doo!
