Feathered hair and all! It’s time to dance…again! Kylie Minogue has managed to keep the rhythm alive even during the global pandemic and carried the torch for all the lovers who were mourning their dedication to the dance floor. COVID-19 had all but shut down nightlife and now 18-months later and a reliable vaccination in, things are starting to return to normal, but that didn’t keep the Goddess of Pop, Minogue from keeping the beats per minute, the laser lights and the mirrored ball relevant and on our minds.
Not to be hampered by quarantine, Kylie Minogue went back to the studio, actually converting a space in her own home in a make-shift sound booth to record the vocals herself for her fifteenth album DISCO released in the fall of 2020. The album was the artists ode to the disco-era and co-opted many of the synth-sounds and beats from the glory of the 1970s, and while many of her most devoted fans were relegated to the limitations se by social distancing, the album’s setlist kept the spirit of Studio 54 alive in hearts and minds. The album yielding 4 chart-topping singles, like disco itself, is gearing up for its comeback.
A year later with big-room club houses and circuit parties reemerging on the scene, Minogue is re-issuing and repackaging the hits for the multi-disc release DISCO: Guest List Edition that will include the 12-original album tracks, 4-tracks from the Deluxe Release, exclusive remixes and several brand new collaboration with Years & Years, Dua Lipa, Jessie Ware and legendary disco diva Gloria Gaynor. Among the new singles that is already causing a stir and shaking some hips in “Kiss of Life” featuring Jessie Ware. The track co-written by Minogue and Ware along with James Ford, Danny Parker and Shungudzo is also drawing attention with its music video.
